Ron Paul Talks Politics on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno

Friday night on ” The Tonight Show, with Jay Leno“, Leno asked Republican Presidential Candidate Ron Paul the real questions voters care about this upcoming 2012 Presidential Election.

Will Ron Paul Keep his Momentum in The Polls?

They discussed anything from his campaign polls, a consistent political platform, preservation of the constitution, his stance on the economy, foreign affairs, legalizing marijuana, gay marriage and Dr. Ron Paul‘s astonishing polling numbers especially with the young voters.

Jay Leno asks about his youth appeal, “Now you are 76 years old and you know young people usually go with the younger candidate whether its President Kennedy, certainly Barack Obama but you seem to be doing the strongest among the young voters. What do you attribute that to? ” Ron Paul replies “Well I don’t have a complete answer for that but I think my ideas are young and they’re very appealing.”

Jay Leno retorts “Well some of them are old like the Gold Standard and the whole deal.” Ron Paul says “Yeah but freedom is very appealing its based on principle, they know that I stick to my guns and I follow the constitution. But I think young people don’t have their minds all mixed up. People go to Washington with high principles and get their minds mixed up. So younger people tend to be more principled.”

Leno then asks, “So what role should the Federal Government play in people’s lives?” Ron says “It’s very minimal but we have a document that tells us exactly what its should be and that’s the Constitution.” Cheers ensue in the audience after he references the the United States Constitution. Ron Paul goes on to say “The most important part of the Constitution that tells us exactly what to do is Article I Section 8 it lists 20 things that we’re allowed to do and what we’re not allowed to do is reserved for the people and the states. But basically It is there to preserve liberty and the ability for everyone to live freely on their own.”

Jay Leno asks a pertinent socially charged question, “How about gay marriage where would that fit in?” My position on marriage is that government should stay out of it totally and completely.”

Besides the young vote He is also doing rather well with social conservatives across the board because of a focus on preservation of the family. More and more Ron Paul will be one to watch this Presidential Election
